Providing Turn-Key Oversight Solutions for the Utilities Sector

Keeping an organization efficient, effective, and in compliance with grant mandates requires vigilance. Our clients are government agencies charged with managing and monitoring grant mega programs. In the energy sector—where many are first-time grantees of grid-hardening and clean energy funding—we also offer compliance expertise to ensure private energy companies are “grant compliance ready.” We provide expert advice on building a compliant grants management function. Building on a core multi-disciplinary team, we offer the right skill set to match any assignment, whether it be monitoring for grants compliance, internal controls, or government integrity and procurement standards.

New Jersey:
Board of Public Utilities
The Vander Weele Group is engaged as an integrity monitor with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) to monitor $180 million in grant funds designated to improve air quality and energy performance in schools and small businesses. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need for improvements in school and small business plumbing and heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems, leading to the School and Small Business Energy Efficiency Stimulus Program. These include the School and Small Business Ventilation and Energy Efficiency Verification and Report (SSB-VEEVR) program and the School and Small Business Noncompliant Plumbing Fixture and Appliance (SSB-NPFA) Program, funded through the ARPA State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (SLFRF). The Vander Weele Group is performing:
-
a program risk assessment to assess how the program administrator has planned to manage risks in administering the SSB-VEEVR and SSB-NPFA programs,
-
a comparative risk assessment to help determine which grantees should be monitored, and;
-
monitoring of the selected grantee funds.
